ASSEMBLY PRESENTERS T2 Wk 8

COLLAB had the esteemed responsibility of running Assembly this week. Paki and Te Ahu introduced themselves through mihi and pepeha first. They had also created some rhymes so they could rap each event to keep Assembly flowing.
We thought this was too good an opportunity to miss to present our mihi - a real reason to introduce ourselves and use the skills we've been practising this year! We had a selection of brave speakers, and even a variety of languages!
Ben presented the speakers, starting with his own mihi to introduce himself. Gaby presented in Bulgarian, Amelie in French, Aung in Burmese and Dayton in te reo Maori.
Great job, presenters, awesome Participating and Contributing!

HARRY POTTER

Our Harry Potter Unit to start Term 2 was amazing!!!! Book fortnight was so much fun with wand making, spell casting, potion researching and movie watching! We also read a book! Being sorted in to houses was exciting and the Harry Potter evening was the icing on the cake! Hagrid even paid us a visit on his motorbike. We all performed the best magic spell turning a single bag of lollies into bags and bags of lollies!!!! Lollie-o-sa!

Duffy Books

We are very lucky to be a Duffy Book school as each term we get to hear inspirational speeches given by inspirational people. We also get to choose 2 books that we can keep :) In term 1 our speaker was Moeata Keil who is a Doctoral Candidate - Doctor of Philosophy at Auckland University. Thanks Duffy Books for everything you do for us. We love reading!!!

House Day!!!!

House day is always a fun time with many activities on offer. Mrs Skinner and myself were on sport and had some water games that were perfect as it was a very hot day! Everyone had a great time with lots of laughing :)

Weetbix Tryathlon

I was so proud of our kids who participated in the Hibiscus Coast Weetbix Tryathlon on Sunday March 26th. They swam 75 - 100m, cycled 4km and ran 1.5km. They did it all with a smile on their faces and with a positive attitude and everyone had a great time! Well done BHS tamariki toa!

Our Footprint

Our Inquiry Topic in Term 1 has been around 'Our Footprint'. We decided to look at our footprint at Beac Haven Primary school nd how we could leave a positive footprint.

What kinds of things could we do?

We used the new Inquiry doc to plan and organise our inquiry and to track our progress.

After lots of discussion and collaboration we made models of the projects and ideas we had for leaving a positive footprint at BHS. Half way through we had to stop look at our models and decide...was what we were producing #quality? Or did we want to stopa and go in a different direction? It was decided that we would continue but we had to ensure that our projects were #quality! It took a while but eventually our models were finished! We displayed them in the window.
